Start with the contest rules and the venue
Set the competition format before building your heat draw. AGOS handles the scoring workflow; the organizer and head judge remain responsible for the contest rules, safety decisions and judging panel.
- Confirm divisions, entry limits, heat length and how many surfers advance.
- Agree on the judging criteria, priority and interference rules with the head judge.
- Allow room in the schedule for changeovers, conditions and organizer decisions.
Build the event and heat draw
Create the event, add divisions and register athletes. Check names and seeding before generating heats so the draw starts with the correct entries.
- Add the event dates, venue and a clear event banner.
- Review entries by division and confirm seeding with the organizer.
- Generate the draw, check progression and share the public event link.
Prepare the judges before the first heat
Each judge uses a private browser link on a phone or tablet. Run a rehearsal so the panel knows how scores are entered, how the head judge submits a wave and what appears publicly.
- Assign the head judge, panel judges and priority role as needed.
- Open each private link on the actual event device and check the correct assignment.
- Practice score entry and confirmation in a rehearsal event, then return to the real event.
Test the network where the judges will sit
Live judging needs a working internet connection. Short interruptions have recovery handling, but the current judge workflow does not allow a whole heat to be scored offline.
- Give judges a dedicated connection and keep spectator traffic separate where possible.
- Test a backup connection from another carrier at the venue.
- Check power, charging, screen brightness and screen-awake behavior on each device.
Keep athletes and spectators informed
Use the public event page for the draw, schedule and results. A TV display helps the beach follow the contest; AGOS Studio is an optional broadcast add-on.
- Share the event link and QR code before the contest.
- Check the public display as the head judge submits waves.
- After the final, review results before sharing them with athletes and partners.
