Prepare the phone or tablet
Judges can use the mobile browser interface without installing a separate app. Full screen is available on supported browsers; keeping the scoring page visible is what matters during a heat.
- Use an up-to-date browser and charge the device before the contest.
- Open the assigned private judge link and confirm the event and role.
- Check the keypad, score confirmation and screen-awake indicator on the actual device.
Check the connection, not just the Wi-Fi symbol
A phone can be connected to Wi-Fi while that network has no internet access. Check that AGOS has connected and loaded the current heat before entering scores.
- Test from the judging position with all judges connected together.
- Have a tested backup connection and one person responsible for switching it.
- Avoid sharing a saturated upload connection with the livestream where possible.
Understand a pending submission
The judge page saves pending submissions on the device and retries recoverable failures. A queued score is awaiting confirmation; it is not yet a confirmed score on the server. Browser storage must be available for persistence across reloads.
- Keep the same browser and device open while a score is pending.
- After recovery, check the score that the server confirms.
- If a score is refused because the wave is final, ask the head judge to review it.
Respond to an interruption
New score entry pauses while the judge connection is unavailable or the heat state is being checked. On recovery, AGOS reloads the current state before retrying applicable pending scores. Scores from a restarted heat require review.
- Tell the head judge promptly if your connection drops.
- If several judges disconnect, follow the organizer's pause and backup procedure.
- Do not treat connection recovery as permission to continue a heat offline.
